A Bit of Reading Before School Starts

Summer is winding down, and back-to-school season is just around the corner. There’s still time, though, to enjoy a little more reading. Books are the perfect way to relax, learn, or escape into another world before the busy year begins.

This summer, I found a few favorites that I’d love to share:

  • When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi – A powerful memoir by a neurosurgeon facing cancer. He writes with honesty about medicine, life, and meaning. His story stays with you long after the final page.
  • Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen – A classic full of wit, love, and sharp social insight. Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy’s story is timeless, balancing humor with romance.
  • The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho – A short, inspiring tale about following dreams and listening to your heart. Simple yet profound, it feels like a guide to life’s journey.
  • Educated by Tara Westover – A gripping memoir about breaking free from an isolated childhood and pursuing knowledge against all odds. Her courage and resilience shine on every page.

These books brightened my summer and reminded me of the joy of slowing down with a good story. If you want something meaningful or entertaining before school begins, any of these will make a great choice.

So find a cozy spot, grab a cup of tea, and let yourself get lost in a book. Sometimes the best way to prepare for new beginnings is to pause and enjoy a story.
